Yesterday was as gloomy and dreary as a day gets. Looking around class I saw more sweatpants than normal, and less attendance than usual. There was this nasty wind which seemed to make everyone a little bit crabbier. Overall, it seemed like the majority of people I came into contact with were having a less than average day…with nothing to blame but the weather. Laying in bed all day with a good book and some tea sounded close to heaven.
But: (There’s always a but)
Psalm 18:28 – “But you, O Lord, keep my lamp burning; you turn my darkness into light.”
How relevant. Such a short, little verse can turn an entire day around. I am so thankful the Lord is my light when I am insufficient. He is constant in my wavering. He holds true in my doubting.
So tomorrow, as I look out the window – whatever the weather looks like – I can remember two things 1) Psalm 3:5 – “I lie down and sleep, I wake again because the Lord sustains me.” I am awake for another day on the Lord’s behalf and no one else. 2) Though the weather may be unpredictable and ever-changing, the Lord will be my light and my stronghold.
Wake up and step into the light.
