Revive

This verse has come to my mind numerous times within the past few days. It seems time to share:

Psalm 71:19b-21 – O God, who is like you? You who have made me see many troubles and calamities willreviveme again; from the depths of the earth you will bring me up again, you will increase my greatness and comfort me again.

Some of the verses that come before these really help to envision what made David so appreciative.

vs. 3 Be to me a rock of refuge to which I may continually come

vs 5 For you, O Lord are my hope, my trust, O Lord from my youth.

vs 12 O God, do not be far from me, O my God, make haste to help me.

David has seen the importance of a rock foundation, a safe place that is found in the Lord. He has seen, since his youth, the ways he can put his hope and trust in God. And he understands God’s comfort and impeccable timing. All of which lead him to proclaim that none can compare.

Time after time, the Lord revives. The NIV version says that he “restores my life.”

As I sit in a place somewhere between the deep valleys of life and the highest peaks, my prayer in that the Lord revives me another day. That even if I am not in dire need of help I can recognize the place God has lovingly brought me out of and where He is leading me to.
