Yesterday at work I had one of the best times with the Lord I’ve had in a long time. I work as a receptionist at H&R Block and normally there is down time where I read a book here and there. It is a little difficult some days to keep on track with the book because of all the breaks. But during this particular 3 and a half hour shift, not a soul came in once I opened my Bible. No phone calls, no questions from my boss, no clients. It was incredible.
Prior to this, I was reading Max Lucado’s Facing Your Giants. I enjoy most of his books, but this one seemed a little too simple for what I was looking for…until I came to a verse that struck me:
2 Corinthians 10:4 – We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down our strongholds.
Immediately this sent me on a search. If I really dwell on this, I need to meditate on the other TRUTHS that I know. Thus this list. Most are paraphrases of the actual version, but read together, they have brought an immense amount of power to my life.
Romans 8:1 – I am not condemned, for anything I have done, because I live in the Lord.
Romans 8:2 – I have been set free of my bondage (& 8:21)
Romans 8:12 – I am not indebted to anything of this world
Romans 8:37 – I am more than a conqueror!
2 Corinthians 10:5 – I am able to take my thoughts captive and make them obedient, they have no power over me.
Colossians 2:6-7 – I walk in the Lord’s ways and am rooted deeply in Him. My identity has already been firmly established by Him.
Colossians 3:2 – My mind is not set on things of this world, but on Jesus my Rock.
Colossians 3:5 – I have put to death the earthly strongholds that used to control me.
To wrap up all these truths…
John 17:17 – “Sanctify me by your truth, for your word is truth.”
Truth > Strongholds
